Endorsement: Partha Basu

Dear Members of the American Chemical Society (ACS),

It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse Dr. Christina Bodurow for the position of President-Elect of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

I’ve had the privilege of working with Chris over the years, and what stands out every time is her thoughtful, inclusive, and strategic approach to leadership. She listens attentively, leads with integrity, and works tirelessly behind the scenes to improve things—not for herself, but for the broader scientific community.

Chris has had a remarkable career that spans industry, academia, and service to the ACS. She spent over three decades at Eli Lilly, advancing to key leadership roles.  She also served as Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs and Vice President of Strategic Operations at IQVIA. Her work enhanced the development and delivery of innovative drug treatments, and in doing so, she mentored and inspired generations of chemists in the industry. Today, she continues to make an impact as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Despite her demanding professional roles, Chris has consistently remained deeply engaged in education and service. She taught at both Indiana University Indianapolis (formerly IUPUI) and Butler University, building bridges between academia and industry. Within the ACS, her leadership has been nothing short of transformative. She chaired the Indiana Section, led the Women Chemists Committee, served on the Budget and Finance Committee, and was a member of the Board of Directors. What impresses me most is that in every role, she doesn’t just serve—she innovates and delivers. Whether it was establishing a new award for WCC or helping bring two national meetings to Indianapolis, Chris has always stepped up and delivered.

One of the qualities I most admire about Chris is her humility. She does the hard work without seeking the spotlight. Her leadership style is collaborative, her work ethic unmatched, and her integrity beyond question. At a time when our community needs leaders who can unite, inspire, and think strategically, Chris brings exactly what the ACS needs.

I am proud to call Chris a colleague and friend, and I wholeheartedly support her candidacy for ACS President-Elect. I urge all my ACS colleagues to join me in supporting her—for her experience, her vision, and her steadfast commitment to our field.
