Dear Chemistry Colleagues,<\/p>\n
It is my great pleasure to endorse long-time Indiana Section ACS colleague and friend Dr. Christina Bodurow\u00a0 for the position of President-Elect of the American Chemical Society.\u00a0 She has accumulated extensive leadership experience in her career roles at Eli Lilly (Vice President Global Regulatory Affairs and Vice President, Strategic Operations at IQVIA, and in her current position as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer at the Stanford University School of Medicine, promoting research in pharmaceutical and medical research.<\/p>\n
These are challenging times for chemistry in the academic, industrial, and governmental sectors that requires experienced, level-headed leadership.\u00a0 Having worked extensively at the interfaces of all three sectors, Chris Bodurow has\u00a0 unique insights into the synergistic relationship among the three and the importance of each sector in the American Chemical Society (ACS).\u00a0 Moreover, having served as District II Director, her time on the Board of Directors provides her with a working understanding of ACS governance and how to get things accomplished within the ACS structure.\u00a0 As ACS President she will hit the ground running with a game plan in hand.<\/p>\n
Prior to joining Eli Lilly and Company, Chris did undergraduate work at Kalamazoo College, a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI),\u00a0 earning her PhD at Princeton University.\u00a0 She has witnessed the academic world at multiple levels and values the importance of sound chemistry education at all levels in the support of the chemistry enterprise.<\/p>\n
I first worked with Chris as a member of the 2013 Indianapolis National ACS Meeting lead team that Chris created and led with superb organization skills and the ability to make everyone feel important in their contributions to the success of the meeting.\u00a0\u00a0 Chris promoted and developed he idea of renting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a day of chemistry and racing events\u00a0 for ACS members and community members alike.\u00a0 Perhaps you took a lap around the Speedway in a car driven by an Indy Racecar driver!<\/p>\n
Chris is a strong advocate for programs that engage the public and highlight the positive impact of chemistry in the community.\u00a0 Consistent with Christine\u2019s love of the arts, Chris worked with the Chair of SOCED to present a day-long symposium about Chemistry and Music.\u00a0 In addition to her career and ACS responsibilities, Chris serves on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n
Please join me in voting for Chris Bodurow for ACS President-Elect.\u00a0 Her career experience gives her valuable understanding of the interactive roles chemists play in academia, industry, and government and her many years of experience serving ACS at the national, regional, and local levels gives her an intimate understanding of ACS governance to develop her innovative ideas and accomplish her creative goals.\u00a0 Moreover, Chris Bodurow will present a positive face for chemistry.\u00a0 She will make you proud to be a chemist.<\/p>\n
