To the Members of the American Chemical Society:
It is with great enthusiasm and unwavering support that I endorse Dr. Christina Bodurow for the position of President-Elect of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Throughout her distinguished career, Chris has exemplified the qualities of leadership, innovation, and dedication that are essential to the guiding the ACS into a future of scientific excellence and inclusive growth. Her contributions to the chemical sciences – ranging from her leadership positions at Eli Lilly (Vice President Global Regulatory Affairs, Vice-President, Strategic Operations, 2019-2022; Eli Lilly and Company-Lilly Research Laboratories) to her current role at Stanford University School of Medicine, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer- have not only advanced pharmaceutical research, delivering innovative drug treatments, but have also inspired a new generation of industrial chemists.
What sets Chris apart is her deep commitment to service and community. As a long-standing ACS member, Chris has played pivotal roles both on the local and National levels. On the local level, Chris served as the Indiana local section Chair, as the National ACS Meeting Host Committee, Chair which was critical to showcasing Indianapolis as a host city, and eventually Councilor of the section. Her service to the ACS on a national is truly impressive; she served on the Committee on Budget and Finance, Member for six years, was elected as District II Director, contributed to numerous strategic planning task forces and initiatives, and provide industrial chemistry perspectives to Board working groups and the Committee on Corporation Associates. In her service to ACS National, Chris consistently promoted collaboration, inclusion, and mentorship. Her vision for ACS includes building connections to broaden participation in ACS for all chemists, strengthening industrial and academic partnerships, and advocating for science informed policy on the national and global stage.
I have had the privilege of working with Chris first as a member of the Indiana local section and then as a Councilor in District II. I have had firsthand view of Chris’ leadership and can attest to her integrity, selflessness, and her keen strategic thinking. Most significantly, Chris has shown her ability to nimbly navigate ACS to deliver in the best interests of both ACS members and the broader scientific community.
I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Christina Bodurow for ACS President-Elect and urge my fellow members to support a leader who will represent us with vision, experience, and heart.
Sincerely
Dr. Beth Lorsbach
